UPDATE: The accused driver of the second vehicle has surrendered to police, the Los Angeles Police Department said in an updated news release Tuesday, Jan. 28. Ryan Antonio Gomez Cifuentes, 33, of North Hollywood faces a charge of hit-and-run. Police are still looking for the other driver.

A woman knocked down by a car while crossing a street died after being struck by a second driver, California police reported.

Both drivers fled following the North Hollywood crashes at about 9:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, Los Angeles police said in a news release and the Los Angeles Daily News reported.

The 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.

She was first hit by a sedan, which knocked her to her hands and knees, and then by a light blue or gray 2003 Toyota 4Runner, which killed her, police said.
