A 74-year-old rideshare driver died after being run over repeatedly by a passenger driving his vehicle, Arizona police reported.

Samuel Webster died at a hospital following the attack at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, Phoenix police said in a news release.

Officers arrested Jordan Spalding, 31, on a charge of second-degree murder in the incident, police said.

Webster and Spalding, a passenger in his rideshare vehicle, got into an altercation, police said. Webster stopped the vehicle next to a canal and both got out.

Onlookers saw Spalding climb into the driver’s seat and run Webster over repeatedly, leaving him severely injured, police said.

When officers arrived, they found Spalding still behind the wheel of Webster’s vehicle, police said. Webster was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
