Athletic apparel giant Nike has leased property at the River Park shopping center, taking over retail space on Blackstone Avenue that once was occupied by the Macaroni Grill.

That chain Italian-themed restaurant closed in 2020 and the building was demolished last year.

The deal with Nike for 14,000 square feet of retail space was brokered by Commercial Retail Associates in Fresno, which revealed it this week. It is not known whether it will be a retail, factory or clearance store, or when ground will be broken on the property. Nike media relations could not be reached for comment.

Neither representatives for the broker nor River Park responded to messages seeking details.

The athletic apparel company has 39 stores in California including a Nike Factory Store at the Tulare Outlets shopping center in the central San Joaquin sinessalley. It also has a factory stores at Tejon Ranch in Arvin, the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets and the Gilroy Premium Outlets. Only 11 of the Nike shops in California are retail stores, the rest clearance, community or factory stores.
