Construction is underway on a new Dutch Bros Coffee on East Kings Canyon Road near Clovis Avenue.

The coffee drive-thru still has several months of work left. It’s aiming for an opening in late summer or early fall.

It will have a drive-thru for cars and a walk-up window.

The popular coffee spot is building next door to the former Javier’s Mexican Restaurant, near the Tractor Supply at the corner of Phillip Avenue.

The Oregon-based franchise is known for its protein coffee and blended drinks such as the Golden Eagle breve (espresso and half-and-half with caramel and vanilla flavors and a caramel drizzle).

What about the Dutch Bros down the street?

Dutch Bros just keeps growing in the Fresno area. Most recently, one opened in the former Boston Market restaurant at Nees Avenue and First Street.

Twenty years ago, there were two Dutch Bros in Fresno. Today, there are 13 in Fresno and Clovis — and 33 between Madera and Porterville.

With this new one coming to Kings Canyon, whatever happened to the other Dutch Bros announced in 2021 that was supposed to open two miles away on the same street? It was slated for the shopping center where Raising Cane’s was recently built, near Willow Avenue.

A Dutch Bros representative said he had no update on the location.

Back in 2023, the CEO of the company that owns the property said that Dutch Bros was on hold as the company focused on the first phase of its work on the shopping center after it purchased it. That included opening dd’s DISCOUNTs and Raising Canes. Both are now open.

Wood Investments Companies, Inc. did not return several requests for comment. No permits have been filed for work on a Dutch Bros at the site, according to the City of Fresno.

Even more Dutch Bros coming

The next Dutch Bros to open is a second location in the city of Sanger.

No opening date has been set yet, but it’s coming in the next few weeks at 775 N. Bethel Ave., suite 101. It will have both a drive-thru and a walk-in lobby.

Another is in the very early planning stages for Shaw Avenue in Clovis. It’s headed for an empty lot west of Peach Avenue, between McDonald’s and I Love Sushi.

A Dutch Bros location is reportedly in the works for the Loma Vista Marketplace at the southwest corner of Leonard and Shaw avenues in Clovis.
