The Friday night Old Town Clovis Farmers Market returns for the summer starting this Friday, May 5.

It runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Friday through Oct. 27. Pollasky Avenue will be blocked to traffic between Third and Seventh streets.

The farmers market features live music, food trucks, fruit and vegetable vendors, along with others selling gift items.

Unlike some other farmers markets in town, the Friday night market focuses on more than just farmers. Entertainment is a big part of the event, with people often strolling while munching on kettle corn and sometimes dancing to bands in the street.

The first farmers market of the season will feature South 65, a band with the country roots of Bakersfield music.

The Pontiacs of Central California car club will also have cars on display.

The other Clovis farmers market, the year-round one focused more on fruits and vegetables, continues on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the same area.
