The newest Kuppa Joy coffee shop opened in Fresno last week, this one at the northwest corner of Palm and Bullard avenues.

The locally-owned coffee shop with a Christian theme owned by former Detroit Lions football player Zack Follett opened last Monday. The business now has five cafes in Fresno, Clovis and Kingsburg and two “joy thrus” (its version of a drive-thru).

The newest cafe took over the spot once occupied by Little Leaf Tea. The tea business is still operating, but has been moved into the Little Leaf Bar and restaurant next door.

Kuppa Joy was bustling Friday morning, with customers filling up the indoor and outdoor seating.

Like its other locations, the coffee shop focuses on coffee and espresso-based drinks, with a limited food menu.

It serves its signature Kuppa Joy, a latte with two shots of espresso, half a pump of dark chocolate syrup and crème brûlée-infused milk and a heart-shaped design poured into the top.

All sorts of other coffee drinks are available, too, including regular coffee, espresso, cold brew, cappuccino, and holiday drinks like a peppermint mocha.

Food options include a few baked goods and avocado toast, along with almond butter or cinnamon sugar toast. There are also a handful of breakfast frittatas and paninis.

The business revamped the interior of the former tea shop, with lots of white and greenery. A mural of palms also displays the words “I am the vine, you are the branches,” a line of scripture from the Bible.

A throne (the throne of judgment from the Bible) hangs over the counter area.

Kuppa Joy also sells coffee its roasts locally and merchandise, such as T-shirts with its slogan, “Love God. Love People. Love Coffee.”

Details: Kuppa Joy is at 6011 N. Palm Ave. Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Closed Sundays. 559-538-3938.
