Huckleberry’s Breakfast and Lunch, the Southern-themed restaurant, is coming to a new spot in another part of town.

The restaurant already has locations in Clovis, north Fresno and central Fresno near Highway 41.

Now, a new one is headed to West Shaw Avenue – and even more are in the works.

Huckleberry’s is working on a location at 4360 W. Shaw Ave. That’s just east of the Costco shopping center near Blythe Avenue.

The restaurant will open in the same building as the T-Mobile store, in a former Chinese buffet spot, said franchisee Ray Tavakoli.

He also owns the Clovis Huckleberry’s and often customers drive there from the west side of Fresno.

“They continuously request for us to open one on that side of town,” he said. “The requests have been tremendous, so we decided to go ahead and open a new location over there.”

It’s still a ways off from opening. They are completely redoing the dining room and bringing new equipment into the kitchen.

It’s aiming to open in July, Tavakoli said.

The Clovis Huckleberry’s was No. 1 in the nation for sales last year, and the new location will be able to serve more people, he said.

“It’s a little bit bigger dining room than Clovis, so we should be able to handle more volume in that location,” he said.

Tavakoli said he’s hoping to open more Huckleberry’s locations in the area, looking at one in Visalia next year. After that, he’d like to open more in Clovis and Fresno, he said.

The food/menu

Huckleberry’s is the restaurant with Southern inspired decor and menu, with drinks served in Mason jars.

Its most popular menu item is the Mardi Gras beignets — little deep-fried pastries with vanilla cream filling — and huckleberry strawberry and peach topping.

Also popular is the Mississippi Skillet with ham, bacon, sausage and eggs.

Omelets, burgers, Louisiana catfish, shrimp po’ boys and fried green tomatoes are also on the menu.
