Wayback Burgers has opened its first restaurant in Fresno.

The national franchise has about 150 locations in more than 30 states, with most on the East Coast and a handful in California.

Its latest location is in the Marketplace at El Paseo, the shopping center near Highway 99 and Herndon Avenue. It’s in one of the outbuildings facing Riverside Drive.

The burger joint also has a location in Firebaugh and another in Chowchilla opening soon.

The menu features many burgers with double patties, including its classic, along with the double bacon burger and the Rodeo, made with cheddar cheese, onion rings, and barbecue sauce.

Wayback Burgers also carries cheesesteak, chicken, and vegetarian sandwiches.

There are also hot dogs, tater tots, mac ‘n cheese bites, and Irish nachos, which are chips topped with chili, jalapeños, and cheese.

The restaurant carries a big selection of milkshakes, including traditional flavors, but also Oreo mint, coffee, and strawberry banana.

The name Wayback Burgers is a nod to how things were “back in the day,” according to the company, which was founded 30 years ago.

The company says on its website that “Wayback symbolizes the inner ‘rebel,’ who might not eat their veggies, but holds the door for grandma every time.”

The restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant delivers via DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Details: 6493 N. Riverside Drive, suite #105, 559-515-6388.
