It’s been a long time coming, but La Boulangerie de France’s second location is scheduled to open Monday.

La Bou, as locals call the bakery’s original Fig Garden Village location, is opening a walk-up window with sidewalk seating in downtown Fresno.

It’s called La Bou II.

It’s inside the Pacific Southwest building downtown, at the corner of Fulton and Mariposa streets, facing Chicken Shack restaurant. Plans for the bakery were first announced in 2018.

It’s outdoor dining only – even when there’s not a coronavirus pandemic – with tables and chairs on the wide sidewalks outside the tall building.

Exact hours are still being worked out, but La Bou II will start off opening at 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and adjust as necessary.

It will be open for breakfast and lunch.

The menu

La Bou doesn’t have a kitchen at its downtown location, instead bringing food from its Fig Garden bakery. But that isn’t stopping it from offering an extensive menu.

It will have pastries, of course, like Danishes, bear claws, muffins and croissants, including croissants filled with chocolate or cream cheese. Cookies too.

It will have bigger breakfast items like quiche.

A barista will make a full menu of drinks, including coffee and espresso-based drinks like lattes.

For lunch, expect hot sandwiches like grilled vegetable, and a chicken pesto sandwich, along with cold sandwiches like chicken salad on a croissant.

Salads will also be available.

La Bou will have some cakes on hand, but cakes can also be pre-ordered and picked up at the new location.
