The Rev returns to radio. New Rock 104.1 adds a familiar voice to its DJ lineup
One expected some changes at New Rock 104.1 FM, following the departure of Frances Echeverria, aka Skippy, back in November.
Skippy left her spot as co-host of the station’s popular morning show and then took a job at KMJ.
On Monday, New Rock 104.1 officially unveiled those changes and launched a new lineup of weekday shows that includes the return of the Reverend.
The Rev takes over the station’s afternoon slot, 3-7 p.m.
This is the Rev’s return to the station. He started on the night shift at KFRR in 1995, though most people will remember his time on rock station KRZR. He was part of the morning crew (with Doug Ray) until the station dropped its rock format in 2010. Most recently, the Rev could be seen on Valley PBS.
Drew Hyatt, Skippy’s former morning show co-host, takes the reigns in the morning with his own program, aptly titled “The Drew Show.” It can be heard from 6-10 a.m. He will be joined by sidekick Failiott.
Hyatt had previously hosted New Rock’s midday programming. Those duties will now fall to program director Jason Squires, aka Hammer.
“We are super excited for the changes for 2020 at KFRR,” Squires said in a release.
“It is amazing and rewarding to watch Drew take over mornings on New Rock. Welcoming the Rev back into the New Rock fold makes me equally happy as well.”
