Much like Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd are on an extended farewell tour.

The so-called Last of the Street Survivors tour has hit more than 100 cities since it kicked off in 2018.

And it’s rolling into 2020. The southern rock giants have announced an additional leg of the tour this spring. It will stop March 13, 2020 at Fresno’s Save Mart Center Arena. Tickets are $33.50-$203.50 and will be available at 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at the box office or at www.ticketmaster.com. CitiCard and fan club presales begin Dec. 10.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is among the pantheon of classic rock, specifically the southern variety. During its run in the mid-1970s, the band produced a string of hits that have since become bar-band staples. They could likely retire on “Free Bird” and ”Sweet Home Alabama” alone.

Though the band was sidelined by a plane crash in 1977, it reunited in the last 1980s and has been touring and performing regularly since. The current lineup including original member Gary Rossington, with Johnny Van Zant (brother of original songwriter Ronnie Van Zant), Rickey Medlocke, Mark Sparky Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Johnny Colt, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase.

It’s been a while since the band has been in the central Valley, last playing at Table Mountain Casino in 2014.

The original band played Fresno on Aug. 24, 1977, at Selland Arena. Somehow, the show was captured on film and can be seen in clips on Youtube.
