How popular is comedian George Lopez? Enough to add a second show in Fresno

Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy will be making a series for the BET Network on the behind-the-scenes world of a comedy tour. “Comedy Get Down” is about their concert tour of the same name, which played in Fresno on Saturday night. BET described the scripted series as a workplace comedy at its core.

George Lopez has added a second show to his Fresno stop in May.

In February, the TV and movie star/stand-up comedian announced he would be performing May 25 at the Saroyan Theatre on his comedy tour, called the Wall. That first show is listed as sold out, though there appears to be a handful of tickets left on Ticketmaster.

To alleviate any overflow in interest, a second late show has been added for 10:30 p.m. Tickets for the late show are $45-$55 (plus service fees) and went on sale Friday online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000.

The title of the show seems purposefully chosen to reflect the comedian’s take on the current political climate, especially as it relates to race.

Earlier this week, Lopez presented at the Summit on Race in America and he has been on record (as recently as Thursday) urging Latinos to speak out on issues of immigration polices.
