Save your ticket, sport your gear, get discounts during Fresno Grizzlies opening weekend

It’s Grizzlies season in Fresno, as the newly franchised and newly outfitted Triple-A baseball team preps for its opening weekend.

The team starts a five-game homestand April 4 at Chukchansi Park.

The team has renamed the plaza at Kern and Fulton street, where it will host a party on opening day. The so-called Party at Growlifornia Plaza starts at 4:30 p.m. (plenty of time to pregame before 7:05 p.m. first pitch) and will feature games, live music and the like.

If you’re planning to hit any game during the homestand, you’ll want to hold on to your ticket and stock up on the Grizzlies gear — it will get you discounts at several downtown businesses.

From the Downtown Fresno Partnership Facebook page:

“Our lovely downtown businesses decided to join in on the celebration. Rep your new gear or show your game tix from April 4 - 8.”

There’s some good deals here, including a $10 large pepperoni at Pizza Pit, or steak and fries from Joe’s Steakhouse. HoP Pk is offering $2 off appetizers and HoP beers, and The Chicken Shack is offering $2 Grizzly Chicken Fries.

In the non-food category, you can get 10 percent off a booking with Central CA Private Security, 40 percent of jewelry from Jalisco Jewelers (but not loose diamonds, watches or special orders) and 50 percent off any guitar in stock at Mystic Music.
