Would you do the Chicken Dance in public for a cookie?

Maybe a free doughnut on National Doughnut Day isn’t your thing.

If you have a burning urge to humiliate yourself in public though, Boston Market restaurant has another option: Do the Chicken Dance for a free cookie on National Rotisserie Chicken Day, which is also Friday.

Yes, really.

You can read the news release here. The restaurant says anyone who does the dance traditionally performed at wedding receptions gets the cookie and a round of applause. No word on what happens to your dignity.

Fresno has two Boston Market restaurants, one near Bullard and Blackstone avenues and another at Nees Avenue and First Street.

Some folks with healthy levels of self confidence will surely do this and we salute you for your bravery.

The sad thing is, while Krispy Kreme is giving away a free doughnut Friday – no strings attached – Boston Market is requiring that chicken-dancing customers buy an individual or family meal first. That’s right, you have to pay money to pimp yourself out for a free cookie.

For people who like to win things for free from the privacy of their own homes, Boston Market will also be giving away 100 rotisserie chickens Friday via Facebook. (Technically, they’re giving away $10 gift cards, which is about the price of a rotisserie chicken.) Keep tabs on Boston Market’s Facebook page Friday for details about how to enter.
