This week, spend an evening on the savannah, the side of a mountain or Sesame Street

This week in the Fresno area you can see two mimosa-drinking moms (who happen to be internet celebrities), the Mexican Madonna and Elmo. You could also do a music festival campout or spend a night on the savannah (the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s version, anyway), or one of the other seven things on our entertainment list this week.

Evenings on the Savannah Because evenings in Fresno can actually be pretty nice in the summer and this might be the push you need to get out to Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s African Adventure exhibit (seriously, go). There are special dinner entrees and live entertainment (this week, it’s guitarist Steve Ono). Details: 5 p.m. Fridays through June. Admission ends at 7 p.m. Fresno Chaffee Zoo, 894 West Belmont Avenue. $5-10. 559-498-5910, fresnochaffeezoo.org

Side of the Mountain Music Festival This upstart folk and Americana music festival seems to be expanding the genre pool in its second year. Sure, there are more than a dozen mostly folk rock bands playing over the festival’s three days (The Harmed Brothers, Cloudship and Saltwater to name three), but there’s also rapper Cockamamie Jamie and a full slate of DJs playing late-night sets. Details: Friday-Sunday. Welker Ranch, 5305 W. California Ave. $60. Side of the Mountain Festival on Facebook

Battle of the Badges Would you believe the Fresno police and fire departments each have their own unofficial rock bands? Well, they do and both will be playing Saturday night in what has become an annual fundraising concert/friendly competition. Details: 6 p.m. Saturday, 5 p.m. for advance ticket holders. ApCal, 32749 Ave. 7, Madera. $15. 559-674-9463, apcalwine.com

Taste of Fresno 2 We’re pretty sure the taste of Fresno is some mixture of tacos, trip-tip and Me-n-Ed’s pizza. Still, it’s an apt name for this celebration of local food and music in the heart of downtown Fresno’s ale trail. Details: 1 p.m. Sunday, Full Circle Brewing Company, 620 F St. Free. All ages. 559-264-6323, fullcirclebrewing.com
