Fresno State football: Lineman Shane Gama hospitalized with heatstroke
Fresno State offensive lineman Shane Gama is in serious condition at Fresno Community Medical Center after suffering from heatstroke at a team conditioning workout Friday afternoon, according to a news release from the athletic department.
Gama, a 6-foot-4, 319-pound junior transfer from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the workout and had been in the intensive care unit over the weekend.
The Bulldogs’ workouts are supervised by head football strength and conditioning coach Thomas Stallworth and sports medicine staff.
The athletic department declined further comment.
Gama is one of six junior college transfers including three offensive linemen signed in December and went through spring practices taking reps with the No. 2 offense.
