There is only one Bill of Rights and ‘it protects us all’ from police violence

I applaud the Bee’s March 27 editorial: “Why Does So Little Change After Police Shootings?”

The Bee rightly articulates the many obstacles to transparency and accountability in the deeply flawed California Peace Officers Bill of Rights. Let’s also remember there is really only one Bill of Rights, and it protects us all from state-sponsored overreach and violence, including police violence. In the end, this is the Bill of Rights that counts.
