Bullard High was right to send home girl with nose piercing
I enjoyed the story about the Bullard High School student being sent home for a dress code violation. School districts have rules for a reason. K-12 educational environments are designed to provide a safe and positive atmosphere aimed at educational purposes.
The student was advised prior to the piercing and also given alternatives, which she refused. Rules are rules, and the school had every right to enforce the dress code. The rules do need to be enforced consistently, which the student and her mom claim is not being done.
Minors and adults need to realize that real-life and society have rules, andthere are consequences to not following the rules. When this young woman reaches the age of 18, she can do what she wants to decorate her body. Many work environments enforce strict dress codes, and many do not permit piercings and other body decor.
