When did Mom’s final resting place turn into a place to picnic and party?

Gatherings at Fresno Memorial Gardens should be a place for quiet contemplation, not a dog park for Nerf football games, barbecues and parties, writes Cindy Lee of Fresno.

I went to visit my Mom on Mother’s Day, and all that was missing was the shaved ice vendor, food trucks and the $5 entrance fee.

My mom has resided at Fresno Memorial Gardens for the past 21 years. Traditionally a place for peaceful reflection, fond memories, quiet thoughts and softly spoken words from my heart to her spirit.

Instead it has become a place for pop-up tents; barbecue cookouts; roaming, unleashed pets, and Nerf football. Why does this continue to be allowed?

Come on, people, save the fun for the parks or your own backyards and let me have back my quiet time with my mom!
