Man killed by Clovis police identified
The Fresno County Coroner’s office identified the man shot and killed by Clovis police officers as they attempted to serve a warrant on Thursday as Adam Smith, 33.
Clovis police Chief Matt Basgall said Thursday that two officers fired three rounds at Smith as he accelerated his vehicle toward them just after 12:30 p.m. Police had been trying to serve a warrant at a home near Bullard and Helm avenues.
Cole Elementary School was briefly locked down after the shooting.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s office is investigating Smith’s death.
