A man who won $1 million in the California Lottery, but was later identified by the California Highway Patrol as the person responsible for a fatal hit and run collision in Visalia in 2017, was taken into custody in Reno, Nevada, over the weekend.

Luis Osejo was sought in the death of Brittany Ramos-Ibarra, who died in the collision on Highway 198. The CHP said Orejo was arrested on unrelated charges, but once in custody, officers learned of the California warrant seeking his arrest.

Osejo won $1 million playing the California Lottery in June 2012. According to the lottery, Osejo said then that he planned to use the winnings to buy a house and help pay off his mother’s house.
