MAGEC officers found this loaded handgun on a 16-year-old gang member

A 16-year-old Bulldog gang member on probation was detained after police say they found him with a gun on Tuesday in southeast Fresno.

Members of the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Tactical Team were patrolling near Kings Canyon Road and Maple Avenue when they approached a group loitering around a parked car on Backer Avenue, according to a department news release.

Officers discovered that the 16-year-old was on probation and also had an outstanding probation warrant. The boy told officers that he had a loaded gun. Officers took it from him; its serial number was scratched out.

The boy was later booked into Fresno County Juvenile Hall, police say.
