Fresno County officials are investigating an inmate death early Friday morning.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide unit and Fresno County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death of Francisco Abel Delarosa, 38, of Fowler.

Fresno police officers booked Delarosa into the Fresno County Jail on Thursday afternoon after he was arrested as a wanted parolee.

Around 2 a.m., as Delarosa was awaiting his bed assignment, he suffered a medical issue, officials say. Correctional officers immediately attended to him while waiting for an ambulance. He was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center where he died.

The cause of death will be known following the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests, sheriff’s officials say.
