They tried to fight off armed robbers at the family store. A son was shot and killed

A mother, father and son tried to fight off three armed robbers at a family store before gunfire erupted and the son was killed, Fresno police said Saturday night.

The victim, unidentified but said to be in his 20s, was shot multiple times just after 7 p.m. in the incident at Stereo and DJ Outlet, 4711 East Kings Canyon Road.

Police arrived after being alerted via the ShotSpotter detection system. They found the victim, who was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Two hours later, the man was pronounced dead.

The mother, father and son all were working when the assailants entered the store, acting Lt. Jerardo Chamalbide said.

Police say the three suspects were seen fleeing in what was believed to be a gold Honda or Saturn.
