She appeared to be asleep in a flower bed, but police found her dead from a gunshot

A caller told Visalia police that a woman appeared to be asleep in a flower bed in the 1600 block of South Mooney Boulevard, but officers found her dead from a gunshot wound.

Police were notified at 3:34 a.m. Friday. When officers discovered the woman, they found the gunshot wound and saw that she had died.

Detectives identified her Friday afternoon as Linda Mae Mudge, 45, of Visalia. Anyone with more information can call investigators at 559-713-4576 or 559-498-STOP. Callers can remain anonymous.
