A man found in a Fresno Irrigation District Canal on Monday was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Subag Singh, 68, of Fresno.
The body of Singh, who is believed to be a homicide victim, was found about 10:15 a.m. Monday in a canal near McCall and Jensen avenues.

An employee with Fresno Irrigation found the body in the water near one of the district’s canal grates. A Sheriff’s Office dive team removed the body from the water. After inspecting the body, detectives found trauma and determined his death was a homicide.
Singh was last seen walking away from his house about 7:25 a.m Sunday. He lived in the 100 block of North Douglas Avenue, near Armstrong Avenue, several miles from where his body was found, said Lt. Jose Salinas.
Detectives are trying to learn Singh’s whereabouts after he left home. He was wearing a white shirt with blue sleeves, gray pants and black shoes. He was also wearing a white ramal covering his head.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Singh after he left his house.
