Transgender woman gunned down in central Fresno
A transgender woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning in central Fresno, police said.
The slaying might be a hate crime; police are continuing to investigate, Chief Jerry Dyer said.
The woman was shot multiple times. She was found near East Belmont Avenue and North Fourth Street.
The shooting happened sometime before 3 a.m., and police were alerted to it by the department’s ShotSpotter system.
In July 2015, a transgender woman was fatally stabbed in Fresno’s Tower District.
