Fresno authorities identify husband and wife found dead in home

Fresno police have identified the husband and wife who were killed after the man shot the woman and then shot himself at a home in central Fresno Saturday morning.

A 911 call from Gilda Pino, 55, led police to the 3200 block of East Normal Avenue, near Mayfair Boulevard, around 2:18 a.m. Authorities waited outside the home after learning that the shooter, 51-year-old Tony Pino, was still inside, said Fresno police Lt. Joe Alvarez. He said officers tried to negotiate with Tony Pino, but forced entry into the home after receiving no response. Officers found Tony Pino dead; Gilda Pino was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Police believe Tony Pino turned the gun on himself after shooting Gilda Pino, but the Fresno County coroner’s office is still determining the man’s cause of death, said Alvarez.

The case remains under investigation.
