State Archives launches Facebook page showcasing California history

A new Facebook page was launched by the California State Archives on Monday to showcase the state’s history, Secretary of State Alex Padilla said.

“Launching this Facebook page will further the Archives’ mission and provide yet another platform to tell the story of California,” Padilla said.

Padilla said the page – www.facebook.com/CaliforniaArchives/ –has rare photos, original documents and other artifacts that illustrate the history of the Golden State.

This is the latest in Padilla’s efforts to digitize materials. Last month Padilla announced a new partnership for the State Archives to digitize exhibits to be included on the Google Cultural Institute.
