Sinkhole opens on western Fresno County road
A sinkhole opened up around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on a rural road near the San Joaquin River in western Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Fresno County’s Road Maintenance and Operations Division was working to fix a sinkhole on Sierra Avenue near Floyd Avenue, just north of Biola. Witnesses described the hole as 4 feet wide and 3 feet deep.
