Man drowns at Hensley Lake in Madera County, deputies say

A 27-year-old man drowned at Hensley Lake in Madera County, the sheriff’s office said Thursday.

Deputies received a call around 4:30 p.m. from a caregiver of the man that he was missing near Hensley Lake.

Deputies quickly responded and searched for him with help from the Eagle One helicopter.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office dive team located the man, identified as Carl Jefferson of Madera, in the water around 5:30 p.m.

Emergency personnel administered CPR but Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were immediately available.
