A Reedley man who had been missing for four days was found dead Thursday when two kayakers discovered his SUV submerged in the Kings River, the California Highway Patrol said.

The 28-year-old man was last seen on Sunday,CHP Officer Greg Makel said.

On Friday the county coroner identified the man as Samuel Duran, 28, of Reedley.

The silver Nissan SUV was found before 5 p.m. in the river near Kings River Road, north of Dinuba Avenue, on the outskirts of Reedley, said Jerry Isaak, Reedley fire chief.

Makel said it appeared the vehicle was traveling south on the Kings River Road when it veered off the road and landed in the river. Foul play is not suspected, he said.

CHP and Reedley police worked Thursday night to pull the vehicle from the river.
