Teenage boy drowns in Hensley Lake in Madera County
A teenage boy drowned in Hensley Lake near the Hidden View Campground off of Road 407 on Saturday, said Commander Bill Ward with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy’s age and hometown were not provided.
The boy was reported to be drowning just after 10 a.m. Bystanders tried to rescue him and then called the sheriff’s office, Ward said.
Rescuers recovered the boy just after 11 a.m. and were using CPR to try to revive him. However, he was declared dead.
Ward said the boy was in water 10 feet off shore and 10 feet deep.
