A body was found Monday morning in an irrigation canal west of Sanger, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The man’s body was found by a Fresno Irrigation District employee near one of the district’s grates. It was floating face-down in the canal north of Jensen Avenue near McCall Avenue.
Cal Fire was at the scene about 10:15 a.m. and the sheriff’s dive team was dispatched when the case became a body recovery.
The dive team removed the body from the water and after inspecting the body, visible trauma was found and the sheriff’s homicide team was called out.
The victim hasn’t been identified.
