One person dies in central Fresno house fire
One person died in a house fire in Fresno on Monday afternoon, said Fresno Fire Department Batallion Chief Brian Price.
Price said the cause of the fire and the identity of the person who died is still under investigation. There were no other people inside at the time of the fire, he said.
A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified said the victim who died in the home on the 800 block of East Peralta Way was a woman.
A 911 call came in just before 3 p.m., according to Price, and fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke surrounding the home.
Neighbors alerted firefighters that there could be a person inside, and crews went into rescue mode, Price said.
Due to the heat that causes fatigue, two more trucks than usual were called to the fire.
Trees and plants surround the home, which made it tough for firefighters to gain access, Price said.
