Save Mart, JD Heiskell on Forbes list of largest U.S. companies

Save Mart and JD Heiskell & Co. claimed spots on Forbes magazine’s annual list of the largest privately owned U.S. companies.

Save Mart, based in Modesto, is ranked 91st with $4.5 billion in annual revenue. Its list of nearly 250 locations stretches as far south as Porterville.

Tulare-based JD Heiskell is ranked 128th with $3.3 billion in annual revenue. The company founded in 1886 deals primarily in grain and commodities.

Another San Joaquin Valley-based company, Hilmar Cheese, checked in at No. 179 with $2.5 billion in annual revenue. And Livingston-based Foster Farms is No. 199 at $2.3 billion. The list totals 223 companies.
