A new coffee shop coming to downtown Fresno will be opened by one of the city’s earliest roasters.

Dale Bros. Coffee plans to open a coffee house and gift store next month in the former Fresno Consumer Ice Co. building, 744 P St., which is along Warehouse Row.

Dale Bros. began operating as a coffee roaster in 1917. At the time, it was in a building on H Street that had a coffee can sign atop it. The family closed the roasting facility in the 1970s.

Now Brennan Dale, grandson of one of the founders, and his wife Alyson Jarman Dale have joined with Mike Unguez and his wife Melanie Davis Unguez to revive the name and open the new shop. On Tuesday they announced the new store.

The cafe will offer coffees, teas, pastries from local bakers and various gifts. Managing the coffee house and gift shop will be Melanie Davis Unguez, the owner of Twee Boutique, which sells Fresno-themed T-shirts throughout the central San Joaquin Valley.

Historic memorabilia from the roasting company will be on display, including photos taken by famous Fresno photographer Pop Laval.
