Fresno’s Manchester Center is in the midst of a full-scale renovation, as is the trend these days.

By now, passersby will have noticed several new restaurants (Chipotle opened last week; The Habit Burger Grill is set to open Wednesday and Rita’s is in the works) and new, modern signage. Those who go inside the mall will notice another change – the iconic carousel is moving.

Work has begun on dismantling the carousel and should be completed in a day or two, said the center’s general manager, Moe Bagunu. The carousel will be relocated to another part of the mall, though an exact location has yet to be determined. This is the latest in a series of projects happening within the shopping center. The inside of the old Gottschalks store was demolished in February to make space for a new artisan food marketplace.
