Kopi on Ranker list of famous meteorologists – but we know he's so much more
Kopi Sotiropulos is like Madonna or Prince. He can totally get away without the surname. Around the greater central San Joaquin Valley, it’s just Kopi.
And everyone knows Kopi. He’s the guy with the Hawaiian shirts, crazy ties and bright sneakers who shows up all over town and gets everyone super pumped about his “exclusive 10 day forecast” (cue the finger pointing).
So, of course, the KMPH (Channel 26.1) morning anchor is going to be on this Ranker.com list of Famous Meteorologists. Kopi checks in at No. 98.
Ignore the fact that Kopi is not in fact a meteorologist and that several of the entries on the list are just pictures of women in short dresses standing in front of weather maps (and also, somehow, Jennifer Lopez).
The ranking still puts Kopi in the same category as John Dalton (who helped pioneer Atomic Theory) and Al Roker – and is worth mentioning if just to remind people that the guy really works crazy hard at what he does.
Also, he has a substantial list of film and television credits to his name. You can check IMDB for the full list, but it includes including spots on “Three’s Company,” “Knight Rider” and “The Fall Guy.” He was a reporter in the film “American Gigolo” and played a bartender opposite Eddie Murphy in “Beverly Hills Cop II.”
