Middle College High received the Dave Sorgent Winners’ Cup and will compete in the State Academic Decathlon Championship in March.

The competition, hosted by the San Joaquín County Office of Education (SJCOE), had a hybrid format this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The competition began with the essay event on Jan. 18, followed by an online speech and interview contest on Jan. 19-20. The competition’s objective testing events continued virtually on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, where competitors showcased their knowledge of art, economics, literature, mathematics, music, science, and social science.

On Feb. 5, the teams took part in in-person Super Quiz competition and awards ceremony at the SJCOE campus in Stockton. Only participants and coaches were allowed with no spectators.
