“There have been moments of struggle and moments of triumph,” said Hoover Principal Rebecca Wheeler to the graduating class, pointing out that as a class they have many accomplishments and have left their mark not only on Hoover High School but also on their hearts.
The Class of 2022 joined Wheeler in recognizing their parents, family and friends with a round of applause.
“We have great confidence in you and in your future and I hope that you’re proud to be graduating as a patriot from Hoover High School,” Wheeler said. “Everyone’s path to get to this point of graduation tonight was different. You have different families, different circumstances, different experiences ….”
“And yet, you’re all here at this same point that is Hoover graduation,” Wheeler said adding that she hopes they know how resilient they are as they faced unique challenges of a pandemic during their high school career at the same time, they worked to stay positive and optimistic and persisted.
Wheeler told the class to keep engaging and learning, to stay curious, participating in their jobs, families and communities.
“You are a class of brilliant people who will do good things,” Wheeler said.
Hoover region trustee Claudia Cázares told the graduating class that “your desire to succeed and your good termination to get to your best place is what will distinguish your path from others.”
“Forge your own path. Don’t let others determine how your future will look like,” Cázares said, reminding graduates to show kindness and love on their way. “This will open doors that would otherwise be close to you.”
