Fans get a chance to meet stars of Club León ahead of exhibition vs. Fresno FC
Fans got an up-close perspective on their soccer heroes Tuesday when seven-time Mexican premier league champion Club León held an open practice and meet-and-greet at Chukchansi Park.
León and Fresno FC, which just finished its first pro season in the United Soccer League, meet Wednesday night at Chukchansi Park in a friendly beginning at 7 p.m.
Fresno FC in a release says the exhibition is the 13th time a Liga MX team will play in Fresno over the last seven years and the first-ever against Fresno FC. This is León’s first visit to Fresno since October 2016, when the club played Las Chivas in front of 15,000 fans at Chukchansi Park.
Ignacio “Nacho” Ambriz, the 1994 Mexico World Cup captain, has been manager of León since September. The team’s stars include Mexican national team midfielder Luis “El Chapo” Montes, U.S. national team goalkeeper William Yarbrough and Argentine forward Mauro Boselli, who is the club’s second all-time leading scorer.
