The best ski and snowboarding season in five years has come to an end at China Peak, with the ski resort at Huntington Lake shutting down operations for the season Thursday.

China Peak initially had anticipated staying open until April 24, but the snow on the lower slopes resort has melted quickly over the past week.

China Peak opened for the 2015-16 season the last weekend of November and received over 300 inches of snow through the winter. Last season during the prolonged drought, the ski resort shut down in mid-February.

The summer season will open July 2, featuring the resort’s mountain bike park, scenic chair rides and disc golf course along with its Mud Run on Aug. 20.
