Snow Saturday: Badger Pass opening; China Peak open daily
After the latest round of winter storms, Badger Pass in Yosemite National Park will open for the season Saturday and China Peak will begin daily operations.
Badger Pass reported 12 inches of snow from the storm Thursday and Friday, and a base of 12 to 18 inches with another storm potentially coming in Sunday.
After receiving a reported 10-12 inches from the storm, China Peak will have Chair 1 running for the first time this season Saturday along with chairs 2 and 6 and the beginner slope near the Day Lodge.
The ski resort at Huntington Lake, which began weekend-only operations two weeks, also is hopeful of adding chairs 4 and 7, perhaps as soon as this weekend.
Winter conditions exist on both Highway 41 to Badger Pass and Highway 168 to China Peak, so check Caltrans for road updates before heading out at www.dot.ca.gov or call 1-800-427-7623.
