LeBron James set the NBA’s scoring record with a step-back jumper late in the third quarter, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that stood for 38 years.

The record took place at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.

His record setting basket set off a frenzy on social media.

James scored his first NBA points against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 29, 2003.

Abdul-Jabbar handed the ball off to James to celebrate the historic feat.
