It was a busy Week 2 for Anthony Estrada.

The Madera High freshman running back knew what he needed to do: score touchdowns.

Estrada did all of that for the Coyotes when the freshman scored four touchdowns and ran for 229 yards in the Coyotes’ 49-12 victory over Torres.

His high total made him a nominee for The Fresno Bee Player of the Week for Week 2 and the Madera followers backed him.

Fans voted for Estrada 1,069 times to be the clear-cut winner.

Finishing in second place was JJ Howard of Clovis West and coming in third was Will Bacon of Reedley.

“This means a lot to me, especially all the hard work I’ve been putting out through the offseason,” Estrada said.

“If anything else, I want to thank my offensive line. They took me under their wing and half of the stuff I’m doing right now wouldn’t be possible without them.”
