Central and Coalinga set to host CIF regional football playoff games, plus others on road
Central and Coalinga will host a CIF regional football playoff game while Lindsay, Kerman and Selma will hit the road.
Central will host St. Ignatius-San Francisco at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 in a Division 1-A NorCal playoff game at Koligian Stadium. The winner will face Granite Hills or Edison-Huntington Beach for the state title Dec. 13-14.
The Grizzlies are hosting because last season’s Central Section champion Clovis North went on the road. This season, it’s Central’s turn that get to host.
Central got to the NorCal championship game after defeating top-seed Clovis East 33-24.
The Grizzlies last won a state title in 2019.
Coalinga, meanwhile, will host Highland-Palmdale at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in a South regional game.
The Horned Toads got by Shafter 34-33 in Division V.
Kerman will play in Sonora in the North Division 4-A game. The Lions are coming off a 42-28 victory over Madera in Division III.
Selma took care of business in Morro Bay, winning 32-28 in Division V.
The Bears will remain on the road and will face Palmdale at 6 p.m. Friday in South Division 5-A.
Lindsay will also be on the road for the state regionals, visiting Chatsworth at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in South Division 7-AA.
The Cardinals blanked Mira Monte 28-0 in Division VI.
