Coalinga High football coach Jose Piz was more than pleased how his team fared in its latest game.

This time against Washington Union in Easton.

In a high-scoring game, the Horned Toads came out on top in a 37-24 victory Friday night.

“We’ve been talking about the way we started this season,” he said. “Even on our bye week. This was definitely an emphasis on how we wanted to play this game with high energy.”

That was led by quarterback Noah Tasi and Julius Borjas who both led the team with touchdowns.

The Horned Toads remain undefeated at 5-0.

“It was a good team win,” Tasi said. “We went through a rough patch at Templeton, and we struggled against them, but we went through it and it’s all part of God’s plan.”

The Horned Toads defeated Templeton 21-14 on Sept. 6 and followed that up and rolled to a 35-0 victory over Sierra Pacific.

Borjas sealed the game on his rushing touchdown.

“I feel confident in my team,” he said. “I feel like we’re going to be very great this year.”
