High school football: Clovis puts up 50+, but Bullard hits 70s in wins in Week 3
Perhaps Clovis High’s biggest test in a match up of The Fresno Bee Top 10 high school football teams went without a hitch.
It was all Cougars Friday night from Tim Simons Field at Lamonica Stadium.
Led by Clovis quarterback Deagan Rose who was the field general throughout the night.
Rose had three passing touchdowns and ran for one to lead The Bee’s fourth-ranked Cougars to a 57-27 victory.
The game was closed in the first half, but the Cougars broke the game open in the second half after a touchdown by the Titans.
Clovis scored the next 21 points on two rushing touchdowns by James Curoso and Jordan Ybarra. Rose threw a 10 yard touchdown to Syrus Mendes.
Bullard too much for Hoover
No. 25 Bullard is making it look easy.
The Knights rolled to a 70-13 victory over Hoover at McLane Stadium.
Bullard quarterback Tyler Franklin threw for seven touchdowns.
Devon Laney had 11 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns and Davien Potts had four receptions for 62 yards and three touchdowns.
Bullard had trailed 7-0 before tying the game in the first quarter.
From there, it was all Knights as they capitalized on turnovers.
It was Bullard’s second straight game in which they scored 70 points.
The Knights defeated Buhach Colony 70-3 last week.
Next up for Bullard is a tough test at Bakersfield next week.
Garza rallies for win over Kerman
It turned out to be an exciting game at Koligian Stadium as Garza defeated Kerman 33-31.
Kerman had the lead early in the fourth quarter when Adrian Torres connected on a 21-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Montalvo.
Garza didn’t go away quietly and answered on Lee Williams’ 7-yard touchdown run with seven minutes remaining.
The Lions were driving and were at the Garza’s 18-yard line with four minutes remaining, but couldn’t get in the end zone.
