High school football: Clovis East starts fast in rout over Kingsburg, plus top 25 fared

Talk about a fast start.

That is what The Bee’s second-ranked Clovis East did against No. 14 Kingsburg at Tim Simons Field at Lamonica Stadium in a nonleague game Friday night.

Donyell Booker Jr. returned a kickoff for a touchdown that went 86 yards in the Timberwolves’ 55-7 victory.

Clovis East didn’t let up all game.

The Timberwolves scored their second touchdown on a 50-yard run by Lindsey Graves.

Clovis East will next face Sanger at Tom Flores Stadium in the annual Silver Spear trophy game.

Clovis North’s defense too much

Top-ranked Clovis North’s defense was too tough against Redwood.

So was the duo running backs in Jackson Cinfel and McKay Madsen.

Cinfel ran for two scores and Madsen had one in the Broncos’ 35-6 victory over the Rangers at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

It wasn’t just the running game.

Aiden Barnett had an interception and Jackson Reilly had a blocked field goal.

Madsen had a touchdown reception.

SJM wins first game under Rich Tuman

San Joaquin Memorial rebounded after its season-opening loss.

David Bell finished with two touchdowns and Mateo Peracchi had a receiving touchdown from Colton Johnson in an 18-14 victory over Christian Brothers-Sacramento.

The win gives Rich Tuman his first as the Panthers head coach.

Don Arax gets first win as CVC coach

Central Valley Christian defeated Tulare Western 21-14 to give Don Arax his first win as the Cavaliers coach.

CVC’s defense held on in the fourth quarter by not allowing the Mustangs to score a touchdown.

Did The Bee fare well in predictions?

The Bee went 4-1 in this week’s picks with the lone loss coming when Washington lost to Lemoore.

Through two weeks, The Bee is 9-1.
